The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) building, a veritable work of art itself, sits in Sir Winston Churchill Square in the heart of the Arts District in downtown Edmonton. The architect, Randall Stout, designed angular windows against a winding 190-metre steel ribbon that emulates shapes of the North Saskatchewan River and Aurora Borealis.

The world’s largest pysanka (Ukranian Easter egg) is in Vegreville, Alberta. It was designed in 1973 by Paul Maxum Sembaliuk, a Canadian artist of Ukrainian descent. The pysanka symbolizes Vegreville’s rich Ukrainian culture. It is 9m long, 5.5m wide, 9.5m high and weighs 2.5 tonnes.
