Visitors to Newfoundland (called “come from aways”) can become an honourary Newfoundlander through the Screech-In Ceremony. To earn the certified title, you must repeat some local sayings, kiss a cod and drink Screech rum. Many places perform Screech-ins, such as Trapper John’s and Christian’s Pub on George Street in St John’s.
