The capital of British Columbia is Victoria, and the largest city in the province is Vancouver which is the third-largest metropolitan area in Canada.
British Columbia's economy is largely resource-based, logging and mining and is the site of major Pacific ports. Because of its mild weather, the province is agriculturally rich, particularly in the Fraser and Okanagan Valleys. British Columbia is Canada's "outdoor playground" and its climate encourages outdoor recreation and tourism year-round.
