Jenny Diller's pit fired pottery

Jenny Diller took her first pottery class in Saskatoon in 2003 and potting quickly became her passion. She  became a member of the Saskatoon Potters Guild and took part in the "re: surface" exhibition at the Saskatchewan Craft Council Gallery.

In 2006, Jenny moved to Vernon where she developed an interest in alternate methods of firing, including barrel/pit, raku, horsehair and smoke firing. These firings produce one-of-a-kind pieces. Adding things like salt or salt-soaked rags, copper wire, copper carbonate, Miracle-Gro and cobalt (to name a few) adds amazing colours to the pottery, as does the smoke and ash from the fire.

Jenny Diller is a member of the Okanagan Potters Association and the Vernon Community Potters group. She is the Volunteer Clay Studio Manager at the Vernon Community Arts Centre and has participated in many of their shows, displays and fundraisers. Always open to new adventures in potting, she hopes to pass on some of her passion through teaching at the Centre.
